FERAL CATS

Inevitably the charity will have to deal with domestic cats - after all a feral is just a homeless domestic cat and not a separate breed, infact they are just a poor relation of your domestic pet. The matriarchs of feral colonies were invariably once pets who either strayed or were abandoned.

The first 13 years, Charmanes spent her life as a feral cat. Now at the age of 16, she is a real sweetheart!

To avoid a population explosion within the wild, it is essential to neuter or spay your pet - it will not only stop them straying to look for a mate but it will also calm them down. Free roaming male cats who fight territory will be at risk from viral diseases, so please have them neutered.
